Chemical Peel
A chemical peel is a facial treatment where a solution containing acid ingredients is applied to the skin, penetrating the surface and removing the top layer of the skin. This is done to encourage skin cell turnover and alleviate common skincare concerns. Chemical peels are great at reducing the appearance of dark spots, uneven skin tone, acne scarring and dullness.
The ingredients used in chemical peels are called AHAs and/or BHAs. They raise the pH level of the skin, loosening dead skin cells and allowing for exfoliation to occur. This reveals the new, healthy skin cells in the layers below. There are different levels of chemical peels, light chemical peels treat the outer layers of skin while stronger chemical peels penetrate deeper into the skin.
