Having the right eyebrows for your face is seriously underrated – getting the right look can make such a difference in enhancing your entire appearance by beautifully framing your eyes, and face!

We are seeing a rise in popularity of permanent eyebrow makeup to help shape and define the brows without having to wear makeup every day or fill in your eyebrows. Imagine waking up every morning with your brows already perfectly done!

There are a few different permanent makeup options for the brows, so which is right for you?

Microblading vs. Nanoblading

The two main types of permanent eyebrow makeup are microblading (which you’ve probably already heard of) and nanoblading. Both treatments have many similarities, but the final effect is slightly different.

Both microblading and nanoblading are semi-permanent makeup treatments applied in the eyebrow area via cosmetic tattooing. Pigments are applied to the skin in the shape of small strokes that mimic the appearance of eyebrow hairs. The final effect adds volume to the eyebrows and defines your desired eyebrow shape.

The main difference between nanoblading and microblading is the tool used for tattooing.

Nanoblading uses a method similar to an electric tattoo gun, where microblading is done with a tool by hand. The strokes created by nanoblading are much thinner and look much more like actual hairs. The results achieved by microblading, on the other hand, are thicker strokes that give a more dramatic look.

Nanoblading is the right choice for you if you’re looking for a very natural-looking final effect that looks nearly identical to actual eyebrow hairs. Some permanent makeup artists also refer to this treatment as ‘digital hair stroke brows’ because the effect is so natural looking.

The needle that applies the pigment is very thin and made from a flexible material so it causes less trauma to the skin during the procedure than microblading does. Using such a thin needle means that there is less scabbing after the procedure compared to microblading with a shorter healing time.

What to Expect

Before your nanoblading treatment, a topical anaesthetic cream will be applied to numb the area and prevent any pain. The feeling of this permanent makeup treatment can be described as small scratches or pokes and causes minimal discomfort.

The procedure itself takes around 2 hours, and the results can last up to 2 years. The typical results for microblading in comparison, last around 18 months.

Nanoblading is especially recommended for people with oily skin around their brows because the results will have more longevity than microblading results.

After Your Nano Brow Treatment

After your nano brows treatment, it’s normal to feel some tenderness in the area as part of the nanobrow healing process. You’ll also experience some flaking in the area, along with a lighter pigment colour for a few weeks until the final results settle in.

You’ll need to go back in for a touch-up at the 6-8 week mark to add extra pigment to any of the areas that have lightened up. This will give you an even, perfectly defined final result!

Taking Good Care of Your Eyebrows

It’s important to keep the area clean and free from makeup and skincare products to help it heal properly for best results. It’s also recommended that you sleep on your back & avoid picking at your eyebrows to help them heal as effectively as possible. Choosing the Right Brows for You

So how do you know if nanobrows are the right choice for you? If you’re looking for very subtle, natural results, then nanobrows are a great option since they look so realistic. They help to cut down on your daily beauty routine and give you a low-maintenance enhancement so that you don’t need to wear makeup.

They’re also a great option for you if you have oilier brows since the results are more durable than microblading results.

Nanobrows also last longer than microblading which means you’ll be able to enjoy your results for longer and avoid having to come back in for a new treatment as soon. There is less scabbing and chance of scarring after a nanoblading treatment so if you have especially sensitive skin this is something that is worth considering.

When choosing your permanent makeup artist, be sure to read and see if they have nanobrow reviews. This will help you to find someone who is qualified and that has experience with this treatment. You’ll have your new brows for the next two years so you want to make sure you love them!
